Pont-et-Massène Dam

Owner : VNF - Voies Navigables de France

Built in the nineteenth century, Pont-et-Massène is classified in the category of Large Dams according to the French Norms and Regulations. The hydrological studies have shown that the existing spillway was able to pass the 100 year flood only.

To ensure dam safety, the capacity of the existing spillway was increased up to modern standards by lowering its sill, then installing two 7.00 m wide mechanical gates in combination with three Fusegates®. This spillway configuration allowed for improving significantly the safety of the dam in case of failure of the mechanical gates.
