Wanakbori Dam

Owner : Government of Gujarat

Wanakbori Dam was built in order to irrigate approximately 100,000 hectares of farmland.

Following the construction of several flood control dams upstream, the water level in the reservoir was no longer sufficient to feed the irrigation canal, for want of regular discharge.

The extra two meters of storage required for full exploitation of the irrigation canal could not be provided by conventional solutions due to the prohibitive costs.

The application of the Hydroplus process made it possible to maintain the safety levels of the structure when faced with major floods, while raising the normal water level.

The project was completed in less than 12 months.
