The installation of straight-crested fusegates made it possible to increase reservoir capacity by 1.8 million m³.
It was vital to raise the level of the dam on account of the dry Mediterranean climate, in order to store every available drop of water and cater to the growing needs for water from the principal conurbations.
The entire installation was completed in two weeks.
