Rio Tapera Dam

Owner : Empresa Baiana de Águas e Saneamento - Embasa

The dam on the Tapera River provides raw water to the Itaparica water supply system, in Bahia State, Brazil.

The Bahia State company responsible for the drinking water distribution, EMBASA, selected the Fusegate® technology to increase the storage capacity from 4.5 million m3 up to 6.3 million m3 (+40%), to improve water supply reliability during drought episodes.

Two SF type reinforced concrete precast Fusegate® units have been installed on the spillway. The Fusegate® inlet wells are placed on the abutment wall to improve the hydraulic conditions of the system.
