Sans Souci Dam

Owner: Central Electicity Board (CEB)

Sans Souci dam is located to the South-East of Flacq District in Mauritius.

The project consists of the construction and the installation of 3,64 m high Fusegates on a WES spillway crest.

The installation of Fusegates along the 80m long spillway (WES type) increased the NWL from 241,00m to 244,0m hereby representing an approximate additional storage capacity of 1,36 hm3, about +31% increase in the storage of the Sans Souci reservoir. The increase in reservoir capacity consequently increases the energy generation from Champagne power station by approximately 3 GWh. The hydro capacity for the plant shall also be boosted up by about 435 kW.

Fusegates® reliable and cost effective solution provided the increased reservoir capacity without changing environmental footprint of the dam.
